Song Sung Blue

Really dug this. It’s about 30-40 minutes too long, but the sequences that work really move.

I knew that there were dark turns coming but didn’t know exactly what was coming. So I happily let out a couple of  Bill Simmons “OH”s in the theater during a few moments.

I’d take this 100 times out of 100 over a crappy Neil Diamond biopic. Feels like Brewer was able to capture the essence of his music without actually telling Neil’s story. It’s the kind of innovation the music film genre desperately needs more of.

Oh and I’ve had Soolaimon stuck in my head since seeing this!!
