Aaron's Thoughts
What on earth are we even doing here?? I mean come on. We’ve got to put a stop to these cradle to grave biopics that do nothing but gloss over someone’s Wikipedia page. There was so much potential to choose any one period of time & hone in on that. Instead, we FLY through every major moment & spend like 30 seconds on each one. Never creating a deeper connection or understanding of who the person actually is.
Since you hopefully won’t waste your time on this piece of garbage, you should also know that the film includes:
- Jon Voight in a very questionable Russian accent - Country Roads playing during the emotional climax of the movie as Reagan rides his horse one last time through the California countryside - The perspective that Reagan was the only person on earth that saw the Russians as a problem - Some hilarious framing of the story through the eyes of the Russian who just knew that Reagen would be the one to take down their country, even when he was an actor - Multiple scenes that are direct references to modern political hot topics so that you correlate Raegan with Trump & go vote for Trump. - Not one ounce of real tension or portrayal as Reagan as anything but perfect.
It just pisses me off that if the left put out a movie like this about someone like Obama, the right would freak out & say it’s propaganda. Yet, this comes out and the right is teary eyed and think it’s beautiful (minus me). It’s just sad. I wish people would actually think for themselves.
