Raiders of the Lost Ark

Not every franchise is for everyone and it’s pretty clear that Indy isn’t for me. So much of the film and the set pieces are undeniable, but can we be honest that there are parts that don’t work? I know, I know, some of you want to shoot me faster than Indy shot the Swordsman.

I found the score overbearing at times - the main theme is iconic, but it just seems like it is played far too often to the point it is grating by the end. And the Marion theme being so similar to the Han/Leia theme in Empire just felt repetitive to me.

I watched this with the intention of watching all of the Indy films and then seeing the new ones in theaters, but will probably stop here. Glad so many people adore this film, maybe I’ll understand it on a rewatch
