Aaron's Thoughts
I told myself 30 minutes into the film that I wasn’t going to waste my time putting my thoughts on the film into words, but here are…
Genuinely happy for those that loved this & got everything they were hoping for out of it. I just don’t really jive with the 12 year old sense of humor & never really got on board with anything happening story wise.
Sure, I enjoyed the cameos & laughed at a few jokes (mainly the Music Man one). I also really love how Jackman brought some true emotional intensity to the film.
It was just kind of weird to sit in a room with a bunch of Marvel fans and hear them laugh at a movie making fun of how stupid all of it is. Almost as if no one really got that they were the joke.
Maybe Deadpool was just the perfect IP for Marvel to get all of this out of their system. It just feels weird to go from a movie mocking how stupid multiverses are to a movie in two years that will feature a Stark variant as Dr. Doom.
Deadpool & Wolverine succeeds in one thing - making the case that it should be the last superhero movie. Which is why, Marvel trekking onwards in this multiversal storytelling extravaganza is funnier than anything in the film itself.
