No shade to Demi Lovato, but I’m curious why she didn’t just go all in on telling her story here. The film is sold on the idea of interviewing all of these children stars, yet minimal footage is shown of these fascinating subjects. Instead, Lovato just decides to continually tell her own story and use any tidbits the interviewees give her to leverage it into a story about her journey.
Which is totally fine, I mean it is her directorial debut after all & she deserves the world after what she went through as a kid. Just feels a bit off given the whole premise of the film. Interesting story, not a great film.
