It’s not without some major blemishes, but I found almost everything about Carousel delightful & charming. Its calming presence and leisurely pace put your soul at ease almost instantly. You fall into the rhythms of day to day life as if you’re living life alongside these characters.
It helps when you’ve got two standout performances from Jenny Slate & Chris Pine. Two actors who I have historically found incredibly annoying. Yet, there is something about their chemistry & tenderness in this that I found captivating.
