Aaron's Thoughts

I’m a sucker for a good “process” & “people talking in rooms” film, so I was in the bag from the opening moments (doesn’t hurt that Rebecca Ferguson is also on screen). Noah Oppenheim consulted with National Security advisors when writing the script & while everything included won’t make you sleep any better at night, it’s remarkably entertaining and educational.

Bigelow talked in the Q&A after the film about how there was one question on the film’s mind - is this the reality we all want to keep living in? You feel that question infused into almost every second of the film & it works remarkably well.

The film being shot like “The Office” & the way it ends may turn some people off, but Bigelow’s answer to why she made the choice won me over. My only gripe is that the power of the film’s structure starts to wane by the third act.

Can’t wait to rewatch. Special shoutout to the king of physical media, Tracy Letts, for stealing the show.
